Ready or not here I come!

January 28, 2010

I rsvp’d weeks ago for the upcoming pictage user group meeting although I didn’t really know much about the guest speaker except for everyone say’s he great and adores him. He was just another photographer, who had made it big, and was giving back to the people with tips and suggestions on how to make your business grow, well at least thats what I thought. Little did I know that when I stepped into that room and sat down that I was about to hear an amazing man speak, a man that would forever change my outlook, not only on photography, but who I am as a person. This speak couldn’t of happened at a more perfect time, things have been hard lately. I have been so busy since Christmas and when you are busy non stop you never have a chance to stop and take it all in. I almost thought about not going yesterday, I knew I am throwing a big party Saturday for a dear friend and I needed to prepare for that, plus I would be busy the rest of the week with previous obligations, and I really couldn’t see driving all the way to Jacksonville just to hear another person’s life story. I have never been so wrong though, he was nothing like I imagined, I was way off in my assumptions. Before I go any further, let me introduce him to you, his name is Mr. Dane Sanders . From the moment Dane started I could tell he had a big heart, he was full of life, and he truly cares about helping others. I am very big on reading people, I can read a person in about 5 minutes, I can tell the kind of person they are, the way they were raised, their intentions, and if their someone I want to get to know or try to avoid. With Dane I knew immediately that it was going to be a good night, and it was! Dane motivated me like no one ever has, I have been stuck in a rut and questioning myself and my skills. Dane helped me understand that night that I can be my worst enemy. I am so excited to start reading his book “Fast Track Photographer” this coming week. I can’t wait to see the great advice he has in it. I have a lot of cool sessions coming up so be on the look out for new images. I am falling in love with photography all over again. I am back, and I am all in at full force so get ready for a new me. I am not backing down and I WILL accomplish my dreams. Nothing or anyone will stop me. Ready or not, here I come.

Me & some awesome ladies… :)

Sunday was a great day. For many reasons. One being the service at church was beautiful, heart warming, and very inspirational! I love my church and I love my pastor. I always feel as if he has spent the entire week preparing a sermon to touch my heart. Every week I sit there and it’s as if God is speaking directly to me. I always take away something to help me make it through the next week. Sometimes we get caught up in the speed of the world, everything is so fast paced now a days. I remember going to New York a few years ago and asking what in the world could be so important, where could all those people have to be that requires them to never slow down and stop to smell the roses. There is no common curiosity anymore, no Hello’s and Good-bye’s as you pass one another on a sidewalk. I do believe that I was meant to walk this earth in a earlier time, I have been told by many people that I have a “Old Soul” meaning I would of fit just in when there was such thing as no paved roads, and horse’s was your only way of transportation other than feet. Now I do believe that I could of lived then and been very happy with the calm, quiet, country life, but I would want to take my Canon Camera, my 27″ iMac, and my iPhone. :) Anyways, the point of this is, I sometimes wish people would slow down and realize how important it is to cherish the time we are given with one another, because we never know when that may be our last chance to say Hello on that sidewalk, or to hug a good friends neck and tell them how much you appreciate them! That’s why I am so very thankful for my country life here on the farm. I love every aspect about it. I love waking up to mooing cows, I love rocking on the front porch listening to the birds sing, and I love listening to my wind chimes plays songs on windy afternoons. Someone that I really cherish and have grown to love is Dawn McCarthy. She is such a sweet lady with a big heart and a strong passion for photography. When I found out she needed a country location for her upcoming engagement session I thought what better of a place, than the place I call home. Dawn came out after church sunday and I showed her around the property as we waited for her clients to show up, once they got here it was on. You have to check out her blog, her clients decided to do something a little different and theirs a lot of mud involved yall, I MEAN A LOT. It’s great. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed watching Trace and Megan create them! Have a good week.

Like what you see?
